How We’re Evolving Our Schedule to Boost Productivity and Focus

At Evolve Law, we’re continually striving to enhance our productivity and focus. Inspired by some of the leading minds in the field of work psychology and management, we’ve redesigned our weekly schedule to help our team and our clients achieve better outcomes. Here’s a detailed look at our new weekly layout and the thought leaders who inspired each change.

Monday Mornings: Planning for Success

We kick off our week with a dedicated time for planning and on-the-business tasks every Monday morning. This practice is inspired by Stephen Covey’s “first things first” habit and Cal Newport’s influential works, Deep Work and Digital Minimalism. Newport’s philosophy emphasizes the importance of minimizing distractions and maximizing concentration. By reserving Monday mornings for planning, we set the tone for a focused and strategic week, allowing us to prioritize tasks without the usual rush and urgency that Monday mornings can bring.

Tuesday and Thursday: Client-Focused Days

Our Tuesdays and Thursdays are now dedicated to new consultations and handling emergency client calls. This scheduling decision is guided by insights from Nir Eyal’s Indistractable and David Allen’s Getting Things Done, adapted from his broader work on efficiency. Eyal teaches the value of controlling one’s own schedule to remain productive and undistracted, which is why we handle our most demanding interactive tasks on these days. Similarly, by focusing our efforts on these high-impact days, we can cover most urgent client needs in a controlled and focused manner, ensuring quality and responsiveness.

Wednesday: Regular Client Calls

Wednesdays are reserved for regular client calls, a practice that allows us to maintain consistency and reliability in client communications. Dedicating a whole day to these calls helps in managing expectations and ensures that we are fully prepared for each interaction, thereby enhancing the overall client experience.

Friday: Reflection and Strategic Alignment

We end our week with our Level 10 (L10) meetings every Friday, an idea inspired by Gino Wickman’s Traction. The L10 meetings are an essential part of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), a holistic business model designed to align all aspects of a business towards achieving its goals. These meetings help us to reflect on the week, solve issues, and plan ahead with clear, strategic objectives. It’s a time for our team to align, reflect, and strategize, ensuring that we move forward together in a cohesive and directed manner.

Building a Productive Environment

By structuring our week around these principles, we aim to create an environment where deep work, strategic planning, and effective client communication can flourish. We believe that by deliberately managing our time based on proven productivity principles, we can enhance not only our work quality but also our well-being and job satisfaction.

We invite you to watch this space as we continue to refine our methods and share our learnings. At Evolve Law, we’re not just practicing law; we’re evolving it.
